Lead and Asbestos Survey
Cal Fire Sierra Vista Lookout
Calaveras County, California
Stratus was contracted to provide lead-based paint and asbestos testing for a vacant residential structure located at Cal Fire’s Sierra Vista Lookout in Calaveras County, California. The project is part of Cal Fire’s Phase V Telecommunications Replacement project which in part consists of demolishing the structure, and as such Stratus was requested to test the painted materials for lead-based paint and for structure materials suspected of containing asbestos. All lead-based paint testing and analysis was performed by a California certified lead inspector/assessor, and all asbestos sampling and testing work was conducted by a Building Inspector and Management Planner certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Certified Asbestos Consultant licensed with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal OSHA). Shallow soils in the vicinity or the structure was also tested by metals, primarily lead. Based on the results of the lead and asbestos analytical testing, as summarized in Stratus's Lead and Asbestos Summary Report, Stratus prepared a Work Plan for the mitigation of both lead in painted materials and in soil, as well as mitigation procedures for the asbestos containing materials.
